Sweden's WATAIN deliver one of their more progrssive offerings in the form of "The Wild Hunt". This most definitely requires a broadened outlook for some to fully enjoy the essence of this interesting and eclectic album. Honestly we couldn't imagine them pulling off another "Causus Luciferi", or even a "Lawless Darkness", at this point in their career, so an expected change should not have been a surprise to anyone into this band. The avid WATAIN enthusiast should put aside any biased feedback and give this album a chance. Although not as massive or overwhelming as WATAIN's previous work "The Wild Hunt" almost seems a conscious deconstruction of their sound to bring forth an evolution in their sound, if that makes any sense to you. This is not a bad thing especially to one that is open to hearing a more mature version of the band. Quite a few progressive elements have been cultivated in the cracks of this album and there most definately is an shift in the sound of WATAIN here.
